Undead Minotaur

Creature — Zombie Minotaur2 generic manaBlack mana

A 2/3 for three with no text exists to be the unglamorous load-bearing wall of a core set's combat math: the body that sets where trades happen so the spells and the bombs have a defined baseline to act against. In black, the defensive end of that baseline matters, because black's other cheap creatures of this era tend toward fragile aggression; this one blocks the two-power attackers a set leans on and survives the incidental one-damage pings, all for no upkeep, no trigger, nothing to track. The flavor is the only place the card distinguishes itself. Zombie and Minotaur are two creature types core sets reach for when they want cheap, recognizable bodies, and stitching them together is the kind of low-stakes tribal seeding that costs nothing and occasionally pays off if a later set decides one of those types matters. There is no rules text to read, no stack interaction, no decision the card forces beyond the timing of casting it. Its whole contribution is structural: a creature designed so the math around it stays legible. Plain, deliberate, and forgettable by intent.
