Unable to Scream
Most creature-neutralizing auras leave the body intact and merely shackle it: Pacifism stops attacks, Ossification exiles the thing outright. This takes the stranger route of hollowing the creature out from the inside. The stat-line reduction to 0/2 is the smaller part; the ability-stripping is what actually defangs a threat, and it does so without touching the graveyard or the exile zone, so it dodges the recursion and reanimation payoffs that punish hard removal. Older ability-removers like Ovinize and Turn to Frog stop at the wipe; this one grafts a type line on top, turning the enchanted creature into a Toy artifact creature in addition to whatever it already was, which quietly hands you artifact-matters and Toy-matters interactions on someone else's permanent. The clause that reads like flavor filler is the one worth noting: a creature turned into this while face down can never be turned face up. Against manifest and disguise builds, that is not a footnote, it is a lock, converting a hidden threat into a permanent 0/2 blank its controller can no longer pay to reveal. The single-blue cost sizes it as a tempo answer rather than a catch-all, but the design intent is clear: a removal spell that refuses to kill, leaving the neutralized creature on the battlefield as evidence.
