Every prowess pump is a power-and-toughness bump, but a 2/1 still dies to the same one-toughness pings and chump-trade math it always did once the turn ends, so the spells you cast to enable the attack are buying a window, not a permanent size. That makes this a creature built to commit to a single decisive combat step: hold up the cantrips and cheap interaction, untap, and turn a clutch of one-mana spells into a 4/3 or larger swing before everything reverts. The Merfolk Rogue Ally typing is the secondary hook, stacking three tribal hooks onto a frame whose real job is to convert a spell-dense hand into damage. Plenty of prowess bodies have come and gone in this niche; this one's appeal is the price, putting the keyword in the slot where a tempo-leaning blue deck wants something to spend its early turns enabling rather than casting.
