Squad turns one card into a board, and the anthem stapled here is what keeps the extra bodies from being chaff. Pay the Squad cost once and a 2/2 arrives with a copy beside it, but the wrinkle is that each copy carries the same +1/+1 buff for your other creatures, and those buffs stack: two of them means every other creature is +2/+2, and the copies grow each other on top of that. This is a self-scaling lord where the lords are the payment, not a separate investment you have to protect. That reframes the mana: every 2 generic mana you sink into another Squad payment buys a body, a permanent anthem, and one more anthem source in a single motion, so the returns bend upward instead of holding flat. Because the token copies inherit the printed anthem rather than a one-time enters trigger, a squadded-out cast leaves the battlefield wider and taller than the raw token count would suggest. The power lives entirely in the loop between how many copies you make and how much each copy rewards making the next one, which makes the ceiling a function of open mana more than of card advantage. Nothing here is subtle; it is a go-wide payoff whose strength is that its two halves feed each other.
