Tymna the Weaver

The card-draw engine that taught a generation of Commander players to attack along multiple fronts. What counts as a draw is the tell: not total damage dealt, but the number of opponents who were dealt combat damage this turn, each card bought for one life. A team that pokes three different players for a single point apiece refills the hand by three, while the payment is capped by how many foes you actually connected with. That structural choice rewards spreading damage rather than concentrating a beatdown on one player, which is precisely the geometry of a four-player game and almost nowhere else. Partner compounds the appeal: pairing this with a second commander grafts a card-advantage engine onto any color combination its partner reaches, which is why it anchors so many of the most-registered commander pairs in the format. The balancing tension is the life cost stacked against a body that has to survive. The draw trigger fires in the postcombat main phase regardless of who dealt the damage, but paying X life for X cards every turn is a real drain, and the 2/2 lifelink frame does the offsetting work: Tymna's own combat damage returns life to spend, so the commander is both the payment mechanism and the meter it runs on. Keeping it alive through removal and the incentive it hands every opponent to block it is the whole cost of the engine.
