Trokin High Guard
A vanilla 3/3 for , shaped by a product line that deliberately stripped the game down to its frame. Portal aimed itself at the absolute newcomer, which meant no instant-speed tricks, no triggered abilities, no stack to track: just creatures, sorceries, and combat math you could teach across a kitchen table in ten minutes. This is what white's midrange body looked like in that vocabulary, a Human Knight with no text because text was the thing the product was trying to avoid. The rate tells the story of its era better than any keyword could: a fair, unexciting middle of the curve when it was printed, the kind of creature meant to fill out a beginner's board rather than reward sequencing. Read alongside the efficient white bodies that came later, it measures exactly how much the floor has risen since the late nineties. Nothing here was meant to surprise an opponent or a new owner; the design brief was legibility, and a creature that does precisely what its stats promise is legibility distilled.
