This Rebel runs on a perverse currency: lands as ammunition. The toughness boost stacks with no ceiling, so a stalled board could in theory let it absorb anything an attacker commits, and because the activation costs a land rather than mana, the controller can hold up the pump until blocks are declared and only fire when combat actually demands it. That instant-speed flexibility is the one genuinely interesting wrinkle, and it still cannot rescue the arithmetic: every activation is a permanent subtraction from your mana base, and the bump vanishes at end of turn. You are spending tomorrow's lands to survive today's combat, a trade that almost never favored the controller, which is why this Horse sat among the most-derided pieces of a set retrospectives already treat as a low point. The era's white-blue corner wanted lands to feel disposable, a tension it never resolved into something either an aggressive or a controlling deck wanted to pay for. The result is a blocker that asks you to tear down your own board to do its single job, and pays off only when you have surplus lands and nothing better to spend them on: a remnant of a design thesis that never cohered.
