Lifelink on a one-mana 1/1 returns exactly as much as a 1/1 ever deals, which is to say almost nothing, and the body trades into anything bigger than it is. The value here is not the life buyback (a point or two when it connects); it is that the card is a cheap, white, lifegain-flagged body, which makes it fodder for payoffs that care about lifegain triggers or about creatures entering rather than about this specific creature. Designed as common-grade filler for a lifegain subtheme, it fills the one-drop slot and does nothing past it. Plenty of one-mana white cats have done this job before and since; this one is unremarkable among them, and honest about it.
