Tradewind Rider

Creature — Spirit3 generic manaBlue mana

A 1/4 flier that costs nothing to attack with and everything to use: the body is almost incidental to the engine bolted onto it. The tap-two-creatures cost is the whole design, converting a board of small bodies into a repeatable bounce machine that resets lands, breaks up combos, and grinds down opposing permanents one untap step at a time. The friction is deliberate. Each activation eats the attacking potential of two creatures and the Rider itself, so the card asks for a wide board that does not mind staying home, and it punishes a player who wants to race. The real menace is the loop with creatures that make tokens or untap on their own: feed the Rider a renewable supply of fodder and "return target permanent to its owner's hand" stops being a tempo play and becomes a soft lock, bouncing the same land every turn until the opponent cannot function. That is the version of this card that built reputations, the prison-style engine that turns a slow Spirit into a problem nobody can profitably attack into. The 1/4 frame is the tell: high enough toughness to survive incidental burn and keep activating, low enough power that it was never meant to win on damage. It wins by taking the game away one permanent at a time.
