Tomorrow, Azami's Familiar

Legendary Creature — Spirit5 generic manaBlue mana

The replacement effect here is broader than a draw step: it intercepts every instance of drawing a card, whatever the source, and turns it into a top-three dig that keeps the best of three and buries the rest. That makes the engine a quality filter rather than raw card advantage, and it asks for nothing in return: no mana, no trigger, no activation. The 1/5 body is the price and the protection at once. Five toughness is hard to chip down, and it walks through the incidental burn and small removal that usually answers an engine creature the turn it lands. The effect is asymmetric by construction; the oracle text keys off "if you would draw a card," so it works for you and no one else. One detail rewards players already invested in library manipulation: the two rejected cards go to the bottom in any order, so each draw doubles as a chance to stack the bottom for whatever cares about it. The card sits at the junction of two threads early-era blue kept returning to: selection that filters rather than refills, and creatures whose value comes from what they passively grant rather than what they attack with. The name says the role plainly. A familiar is not the threat; it is the piece that lets a whole deck see three cards deep where the opponent sees one, every single time it draws.

If you would draw a card, look at the top three cards of your library instead. Put one of those cards into your hand and the rest on the bottom of your library in any order.
