Two lines of text, one obscure creature type, and a bet that the tribe exists at all. Villain is a classification scattered across sets that lean into narrative antagonists, rarely printed with any mechanical thread tying its members together. This is the payoff piece that tries to knit that flavor tag into a functional tribe: a recursion trigger that pulls one Villain back from the graveyard on entry, plus a cost reducer that shaves a generic mana off the rest of them. That combination is the standard tribal-lord template, but built on a creature type thin enough that the card doubles as an argument for the archetype's existence rather than an enhancement to one that already thrives. The 2/2 body is unremarkable and meant to be; the value lives in the text, and the recursion clause specifically rewards a graveyard already stocked with Villains, so the card wants a critical mass around it before it earns its slot. What makes it worth attention is less what it does than what it presumes: that enough Villain-typed cards exist, across enough colors and rates, to assemble a deck a mono-black three-drop can meaningfully anchor. It is a lord waiting on its tribe to catch up.
