Tiller Engine

Artifact Creature — Construct2 generic mana

The tapped-land tax has been a fixture of manabase design forever: taplands, fetch-shocks that ping you for life, dual lands that arrive tapped unless you meet a condition. This construct treats that entire cost as raw material. Every land that would otherwise sit tapped through your turn instead resolves into a choice at the moment it enters, and both halves are useful in different directions. The untap mode erases the tempo penalty of a tapland entirely, letting a color-fixing dual play as though it came in untapped. The tap mode turns the same trigger into a slow-drip control lever, freezing a blocker, a mana rock, or a would-be attacker one permanent at a time as your lands trickle in. What makes the design cohere is that the trigger fires on entry, not on demand, so the value is metered by your land drops and by how many tapped lands your deck actually runs. Build around it (fetch-heavy or bounce-land manabases that generate multiple tapped-land events per turn) and the 1/3 body becomes an engine that either denies your opponents a fair board or accelerates you past the friction most manabases eat. Left alone in a deck full of untapped basics, it does nothing at all. The card is entirely a function of what enters tapped underneath it.
