Thrilling Encore

Instant4 generic manaBlack mana

Most mass-reanimation is greedy by color: white pulls everything back to its owners, black drags a single body across the table, but few spells care about when a creature died. The clever restriction here is temporal, not selective: only creatures that hit a graveyard from the battlefield this turn come back, and they come back under your control regardless of whose they were. That clause is the whole engine. It does nothing on an empty turn, which is what keeps a five-mana instant from being a generic reanimator; it asks you to manufacture the body count first. The natural partner is a one-sided board wipe or a sacrifice loop you can fire in response, turning a wrath into a heist: every creature that just died, yours now. Instant speed is the second half of the design, and it matters more than the rate suggests. A removal spell or a chump-blocked attacker resolves, the creature goes to the yard from combat, and you answer with the encore before the turn's cleanup wipes the window shut. Played proactively it is a payoff; played reactively it is a punish, snatching the opponent's freshly traded threats off their own removal. The same-turn timing is the friction and the appeal at once: build the kill, then collect it.
