Thrilling Discovery

SorceryRed manaWhite mana

Rummaging in Boros colors, dressed up with a modest life gain to soften the sting. The engine underneath is the classic loot-into-draw: pitch two cards you would rather have in the bin, draw three to refill. Faithless Looting drew the archetype's blueprint by trading one card for two at half the cost; this widens the exchange to three-for-two, folds in two life, and adds a second color to the bill. Run the card math and the design's real intent shows: the spell itself costs a card, the discard costs two more, and the draw returns three, so you break even on quantity while trading two specific cards for three unknown ones. That fixed two-card cost is the tension. It rewards decks built to want cards in the graveyard (reanimation targets, flashback spells, delve fodder) rather than decks that just want to dig, because the discards are the payoff, not the tax. The optional clause matters too: the two life is unconditional, so even with an empty or precious hand the spell still does something, but the filtering only arrives if you can afford to feed it. What distinguishes it among red-based selection effects is the direction of the push: toward graveyard fuel it quietly assumes you are running, rather than raw card velocity.
