Threefold Signal
Replicate was always a payoff mechanic in search of a trigger, and here the trigger is the color count itself: not mana value, not card type, but a spell that is precisely three colors. That number is the entire design. Two-color and mono-color spells get nothing; four- and five-color spells get nothing; the replicate rider lands only on the wedge and shard cards a three-color deck is already built to cast. So it functions as a build-around tax that repays the deckbuilding discipline it demands, forking a removal spell into two or three, a card-draw spell into a fistful, a permanent spell into a board of tokens (the reminder-text token clause fires only when the copied spell is a permanent, so it is your creatures and artifacts that duplicate, not your interaction). The scry 3 on entry is the polite floor: even in a hand light on three-color payoffs, it smooths the next few draws and asks nothing back. What makes it fussy rather than universal is that each copy resolves exactly as the original was cast, so the value spikes on spells that genuinely want to happen twice (targeted removal, big X-effects, threats worth doubling) and offers nothing to a spell you would rather resolve once. It is a color-identity engine, narrow by construction and generous only to the deck it was drawn for.
