Imprint usually exists to reuse a card: Isochron Scepter clones an instant to recast it, Chrome Mox taps for the imprinted card's color. Here imprint runs in reverse. It strips a nonland card from a chosen player's hand and converts the exiled card into a punishment fingerprint, charging 2 damage at anyone who casts a spell sharing its color or mana value. The targeting choice is the whole decision, and once the imprint is set it stays fixed: exile a blue four-drop and you create a tax that catches every blue spell and every four-drop anyone plays, not just the player you raided. That symmetry is the part worth sitting with. The damage trigger watches all players, including yourself, so a poorly chosen exile can tax your own curve as readily as an opponent's, and a card with a crowded mana value (three, four) sprays incidental damage across spells that have nothing to do with the original target. It reads like soft hand disruption but operates as a Pyrostatic Pillar with a color-and-cost filter biased by whatever your victim happened to be holding. The price is what dates it: five colorless mana for a slow, symmetrical 2-point clock that any player can route around by declining to cast matching spells. As imprint history, it is the rare instance that turns the mechanic into an instrument of attrition, a direction the keyword seldom revisited.
