Creature — Human Wizard1 generic manaBlue mana

Looting on a stick, where the stick is the creature's tap and that price is the whole story. The repeatable draw-then-discard loop is one of blue's oldest engine effects, and binding it to a permanent 1/1 Wizard turns a one-shot looter spell into a turn-after-turn filter you can run all game. The cost is steep in a way the rate hides: the loop eats the creature's tap every turn, so it never blocks profitably and never attacks for anything that matters, and the loot is card-neutral by definition (you trade quantity for selection, not advantage). That makes it a graveyard-feeding and dig engine rather than a value engine, which is exactly the wrinkle that matters. A summoning-sickness turn off the engine, a sorcery-speed body that any removal stops cold, and the slow grind of one card per turn put it firmly in the camp of decks that need to discard rather than decks that want more cards. Where a player wants threshold online, a flashback target in the bin, or a specific answer dug toward, the loop matters more than the body, and a 1/1 you intend to leave back and tap is precisely the body the engine asks for. The lineage of cheap creatures that loot has grown since, but the structural job here has stayed constant: a cheap, permanent, repeatable selection outlet for decks that treat the graveyard as a resource.
