Protection from red carries every point of this card's value: it walks past burn, ignores red blockers, and survives the most efficient removal a heavy-red aggro deck can throw at a flyer. The flying turns that immunity into a clock rather than a wall, because a 2/1 that cannot be Lightning Bolted or chump-traded by ground creatures keeps connecting turn after turn. This is the targeted-hoser tradition white has always traded in: a body priced just above the curve, with a defensive keyword aimed at exactly one color so the card swings a single matchup hard while doing nothing elsewhere. Protection from red is binary value, and that is the whole axis the design rides on. Against the right opponent it is nearly unkillable and unblockable; against everyone else it is an undersized flyer with a wasted line of text. That all-or-nothing split is the signature of the focused-hoser school: a card built to neuter one specific game plan (the burn-and-block answer to a small flyer) so completely that it reads as overpowered in one column of the matchup grid and unplayable in every other. The narrowness is not a flaw to be patched but the entire premise; the protection earns its keep precisely because it is pointed at the deck that would otherwise erase a 2/1 with a single mana.
