The Night of the Doctor
Two chapters that read like a full white control arc compressed into one enchantment: a Wrath, then a Reanimate. The first chapter clears the board, the second hauls a legend back and hands it a keyword counter, and because the Saga sits between those chapters for a full turn cycle, the card telegraphs its own payoff. Everyone at the table sees the sweep land, watches the lore counter tick, and knows exactly which legendary creature is coming back before it arrives. That transparency is the balancing constraint: this is not a surprise, it is a scheduled event, and opponents get a turn to plan around the reanimation target you are obviously setting up. The counter choice (first strike, vigilance, or lifelink) is a small tuning knob rather than the point, letting the returned legend attack safely, block and swing, or stabilize a life total drained by the preceding board wipe. The wrath feeds the reanimation, and that loop is the whole trick: your own legends die to chapter one, then return upgraded in chapter two, so the card behaves closer to a reset-and-recover engine than a pure removal spell. It asks you to build a graveyard worth mining and a legendary creature worth the wait, then rewards the patience with a body that arrives clean into an empty battlefield.
