Most Equipment rewards you for punching through: a bigger body, evasion, a trigger on connect. This one grabs the defender by the collar instead. The lure clause ("must be blocked if able") compels the opposing board to throw a creature in front of the equipped attacker, and the whole design assumes that block resolves into a death somewhere on the board. Note what the Equipment does not do: it grants no power, no toughness, no deathtouch, so the carrier does not clear its own blocker unless it was already big enough to. First strike is here to protect the value, not to manufacture kills; it lets a large attacker survive the exchange and keep its death-trigger engine online. The third line is where the design turns. It doubles death-triggered abilities of the equipped creature and of emblems you own, and the scope is the point: this is not a board-wide doubler, so the reward accrues only to the creature you commit to carrying it. That pins the ideal wearer to a genuine threat that already cares about creatures dying and can survive combat: something with a beefy body and a death-payoff attached, not a fragile utility one-drop. Point it at combat and the compulsory block feeds it whatever it consumes, twice per swing, while first strike keeps it alive to consume again. The equip cost anchors the whole engine to a single committed carrier rather than letting the reward hop freely between attackers.
