Tevesh Szat, Doom of Fools

Almost none of a planeswalker's rules text usually cares whether the game has commanders at all, but this one is scoped to them top to bottom. The plus abilities are ordinary aristocrat plumbing: manufacture Thrull chumps, then convert a creature or planeswalker into cards. The tell sits in that second ability's modifier, drawing an extra card when the sacrificed permanent was a commander, and in an ultimate that seizes control of every commander on the battlefield and pulls the rest from the command zone onto the battlefield under one player's control. Those clauses do nothing in a game without commanders present; the payoff exists only where the format's central rule object is in play. Partner and the line granting commander eligibility make the intent explicit: a card built to lead a deck or ride shotgun with a second Partner legend as a value engine. The sacrifice-plus carries the day-to-day work, since a walker that reliably converts your own board (an expiring token, a planeswalker that has already fired its ultimate, a Thrull that just blocked) into two or three cards is repeatable advantage that also feeds any death-trigger shell it sits in. The ultimate reads more as a flavor exclamation point than a real plan: grinding to negative-ten loyalty while the plus abilities do their job means the game was already decided. What makes the card notable is how narrowly its text is written around the commander itself as its central rule object, rather than around any evergreen board state.
