Temporal Distortion
Most prison enchantments tax mana or punish attacks; this one attacks the untap step itself, which is the part of the turn cycle Magic almost never lets you touch. The mechanism is a stutter rather than a lock: tapping a creature or land stamps it with an hourglass counter, that counter holds it down through the controller's untap step, and then their own upkeep clears the counter so the permanent is free again the following turn. The practical effect is a one-turn delay on every creature or land that gets tapped: attackers stay down a turn after swinging, tapped lands sit idle the turn after they pay out, and any creature that taps to activate runs at half speed. It is symmetrical and it punishes whoever does the most tapping, which is the wrinkle that makes it awkward to abuse: the player ahead on board, the one swinging and tapping out, eats the worst of it. The natural home is a build that wins without tapping much (instant-speed control or a deck leaning on untapped mana rocks and flash threats) while the opponent's creatures and lands keep falling a step behind. It is a slow, grinding axis of disruption rather than a hard stop, the kind of timing-warping enchantment that rewards a deck constructed to sidestep its own clause.
