Tectonic Break

SorceryX generic manaRed manaRed mana

Mass land destruction usually carries a warping reputation: it leaves the manabase a coin flip and the table groaning. This one sidesteps that complaint with a single clause. Because each player sacrifices lands of their own choosing, nobody loses their colors or a key utility land at the caster's whim; everyone dumps excess and keeps what matters. That makes it honestly even-handed, but even-handed is exactly where the trick lives. An effect that strips lands from both sides equally rewards whoever needs lands least: the player whose curve is already on the table, whose threats are deployed, whose hand is light enough to weather an empty board. The aggressor, in other words, dressed up as someone playing fair. What X buys is breadth rather than precision. You set how deep the cut goes on both halves of the board, then race the recovery, but you cannot snipe a specific dual; the opponent simply parts with whatever stings least. The fixed double-red plus the variable also keeps it from ever being a finisher in isolation, since you pay full freight for every land you want gone, your own included. It reads as fair and plays as tempo, which is the most a symmetric land-destruction sorcery can be.
