The genius and the ceiling both live in what happens next. Because a For Mirrodin! Equipment reattaches like any other piece of gear, the buff outlives its host: kill the 2/2 Rebel and the +4/+4 lingers for whichever creature you can afford to strap it onto, though the Equip cost here is punishingly steep, so moving it is a real commitment rather than a reflex.
