Sweet-Gum Recluse
Cascade off a six-mana spider almost never reads as a build-around, but the trigger here does something none of the flash-blocker spiders that came before it could: it rewards you for having already committed creatures this turn. The counter distribution keys off "each creature that entered this turn," which quietly turns cascade from a value tax into a payoff. Because cascade resolves the free spell first, anything that whiffs off the top and hits the board (a token maker, a creature spell, another cascade card) becomes a legal target the moment the Recluse itself finishes entering, and the Recluse counts too. The flash is what stitches this together: you can hold up the whole package and dump it on an end step, or ambush a swing with a 0/3 wall that suddenly hands three +1/+1 counters to a fresh attacker or blocker. The 0/3 body with reach is a deliberate soft floor; the card is not asking to trade in combat, it is asking to sit back and convert stray battlefield entries into permanent stats. It is a green midrange engine dressed as a defensive creature, and the tension it resolves is that flash and cascade usually pull toward instant-speed value while counters usually pull toward slow accrual. This packs both into one enters-the-battlefield window.
