Surly Farrier

Creature — Kithkin Citizen1 generic manaGreen mana

The sorcery-speed clause defines the whole plan. A pump that fires only on your main phase cannot ambush an attacker or blow out a block; it has to be spent before combat, on a creature you already intend to send in. That turns the tap ability into a threat-assembly tool rather than a surprise. The vigilance rider is the tell: you pump before your attack, swing with the buffed body, and still keep it back on defense, so the +1/+1 works on both ends of the turn instead of asking you to choose. Tapping to activate means the farrier itself sits out the turn it fires, which is the cost that keeps a repeatable, no-mana pump from running away: you are trading one body's participation for another's boost, every turn, forever. Green has a long line of tap-to-pump anthem-lite bodies going back to the earliest lords, but most of those handed out static bonuses; here the effect is targeted, temporary, and steered by the pilot each turn, which rewards knowing exactly which creature needs to survive a block or push through the last points of damage. A 2/2 for two that quietly upgrades one attacker per turn is not flashy, but grinding, incremental engines like this one are exactly what green ground stalls are built to exploit.
