Suq'Ata Lancer

Creature — Human Knight2 generic manaRed mana

Flanking was the mechanic that made the Mirage-era Knight a real combat archetype, and stapling it to haste here doubles down on the keyword's inherent role as an offensive threat. Flanking rewards the attacker by punishing ground blockers without the keyword: anything that steps in front of the Lancer takes -1/-1, which often kills the small creatures aggressive decks want to block with and lets a 2/2 trade up or sail through unopposed. Haste closes the loop. The card arrives ready to swing the turn it lands, forcing the defender to make that flanking math immediately rather than developing a blocker first. The combination is a deliberate piece of red Knight design from the period: a body that attacks the moment it hits the board and is structurally awkward to chump. Nothing about the rate is flashy, but the two keywords reinforce each other along a single axis (get in, and make blocking it a losing proposition), which is exactly what a tempo-minded red three-drop is supposed to do.
