Suppress

Sorcery2 generic manaBlack mana

A temporary exile spell that gives everything back. The temporary nature is what makes this so strange: rather than stripping a hand permanently the way Mind Twist or even a simple Hymn to Tourach does, it just hides it under glass for one rotation. The cards leave at sorcery speed and return at the beginning of the targeted player's next end step, which means the window is precisely one full turn of that player. The design intent is denial-as-tempo rather than denial-as-attrition: the opponent draws into an empty grip, untaps, and plays the turn with nothing but their topdeck, then gets the hand back when it no longer matters for that cycle. That narrow seam is the whole trick. Hit a control player with their counterspells and removal locked away, swing for the turn that decides the game, and the returned cards arrive too late to interact with the swing that already landed. The flaw is just as visible: against an opponent who would happily empty their hand anyway, or who has already deployed their threats, Suppress accomplishes nothing but reshuffling the order of operations. It is a piece of black tempo from an era still working out how to price disruption that does not actually two-for-one, and it lands on the wrong side of that ledger more often than not.
