One of five Eggs from the same cycle, each pairing a guild's two colors and converting a small mana investment into a cantrip when cracked. The structure is deliberately staggered: you pay one to play it, then later pay two more and the tap to redeem it for the green-white mana plus a fresh card. That spread-out cost is the whole bargain. The artifact sits on the battlefield as a stored card draw, fixing nothing until you have the spare mana to break it, at which point it filters two generic into one green and one white while replacing itself in one motion. Note the net: the activation costs two and returns two, so cracking the Egg accelerates nothing and banks nothing. What it does is convert any two mana into exactly the colors green-white wants, with a card on the back end. The design reads as fixing-with-upside rather than ramp: not acceleration, but a way to launder colorless mana into a precise two-color pip while keeping your hand size flat. That mattered in an era built around graveyard recursion and incremental advantage. The Eggs were also fodder by construction, artifacts that wanted to die, feeding sacrifice payoffs and threshold counts as a side effect of being used for their printed purpose.
