Strength in Numbers

Instant1 generic manaGreen mana

The math is the payoff: a pump spell that scales with the size of your attack rather than handing you a fixed bonus. Where most green combat tricks grant a flat +3/+3 or +4/+4, this one prices itself in board state, rewarding the go-wide decks that flood the table before they swing. Three attackers makes it +3/+3; six makes it +6/+6, and the trample clause converts that surplus into damage that bleeds past chump blockers. It answers the perennial failure of the alpha strike: a wide attack that runs into one well-placed blocker stalls out, but pump the spearhead and grant trample, and a single removal-proof creature drags the whole assault through. Watch the precise wording: X counts all attacking creatures, not just yours, so it punishes an opponent who races you back on the crackback, and it counts the targeted creature itself. The limitation is built into the same math that makes it sing. With one or two threats on the board, the spell offers next to nothing; it wants commitment and pays out in proportion to how committed you already are. That dependence on numbers is its glass jaw, too: a sweeper, or even a single trade before combat, shrinks the bonus to a shrug.
