Storm of Souls

Sorcery4 generic manaWhite manaWhite mana

Mass reanimation usually pays for its power by returning creatures at full stature, then asking you to survive the resulting board of monsters on both sides. This flips the arithmetic: everything comes back, but everything comes back small, a battlefield of 1/1 fliers regardless of what those cards were in their previous lives. The flattening is the whole trade. It turns your graveyard into a wide, evasive army rather than a handful of fatties, which rewards a deck that has been dumping creatures into the yard for quantity rather than quality: sacrifice fodder, cheap utility bodies, anything that died for value earlier. The Spirit typing and flying are what make the swarm actually threatening, since a horizontal board of vanilla tokens stalls against blockers while a horizontal board of fliers does not. The self-exile clause is the tax on all of this: there is no looping this back for a second wave, so the payoff has to be the one big turn where the graveyard empties and the air fills. It sits alongside the other reanimators as the version that cares about breadth over ceiling, the one you reach for when your best dead creatures are numerous rather than enormous.
