Stone Idol Trap

A Trap that turns the alpha strike into the attacker's problem. The cost reduction scales with the opponent's commitment: every attacking creature shaves a mana, so the wider the swing, the cheaper this gets, until a board-emptying attack hands you a 6/12 ambush blocker for next to nothing. That body is the entire payload. Twelve toughness absorbs nearly any single attacker, while the trample sits idle on defense (a blocking creature's trample does nothing) and waits for its real job. The exile clause is what defines the card's window, and it is more generous than it looks. The Construct survives until your next end step, which means a Trap sprung during the opponent's combat phase lives through your entire following turn: it blocks now, untaps, and then swings as a 6/12 trampler before it vanishes. That second use is why the trample is on the card at all. The timing is the skill test. Spring it too early and you have overpaid for a token that evaporates before it earns out; hold mana and wait for the swing to be fully declared, and you flip a race-ending attack into a blowout, often a two-for-one as the fresh Construct trades up into the biggest threat and then carries the counterattack. It rewards the reactive red player holding open mana and daring the opponent to overextend, a posture this color reaches for far less often than the burn-them-out plan.
