Steppe Lynx

Creature — CatWhite mana

A 0/1 that contributes nothing on an empty board and everything once a land lands behind it. The real engine is the fetchland double-pump: the fetch enters and triggers landfall once, then sacrifices to put a land onto the battlefield and triggers again, so a body that reads as embarrassing swings to a 4/5 the moment a Scalding Tarn or Arid Mesa resolves its work. That crack-and-search rhythm is the reason the card exists: it converts the manabase you were already running into combat damage with no extra cards spent. The ceiling carries a clear price, because the boost evaporates when the turn does and the Cat folds back to a body you cannot profitably block with. The Lynx is a clock that only advances while you are deploying lands, and no faster than your land drops allow. As design, it is among the cleanest early statements of what landfall rewards: stacking land entries into a single explosive turn rather than spreading them across a curve. The decks that want it are already invested in fetches and other cheap landfall payoffs, where every land entering pays off twice and a one-mana creature is the cheapest place to bank that recurring value.
