Steampath Charger
Offspring is the pivot that turns a two-power body into a scalable amount of guaranteed reach. Paying the extra does not just add a 1/1 to the board: it clones the death trigger, so a charger cast with Offspring is two copies of "deal 1 damage to target player when I die." Trade them, chump with them, sacrifice them, or let them die to a board wipe, and the damage lands regardless. That reframes what an aggressive deck is buying. The creature's job is not to survive; it is to deal combat damage while it can and then convert its death into inevitability. Where most Offspring creatures ask you to weigh a fragile 1/1 against two mana, this one prices the token as a second delayed burn spell, which is exactly what a red deck racing for the last few points of life wants. The 2/1 frame is deliberately disposable: a low toughness invites the trade, and the trade is the payoff. It is a small card built around a clean strategic axis, that every point of damage should be able to leave through the front door or the graveyard, and Offspring is the lever that lets you buy more of the second exit when the game asks for it.
