Cost reducers pinned to one creature type live or die by the payoff pool, and Angels are one of white's deeper ones: expensive, top-heavy, historically gated behind five, six, seven mana. This 2/2 attacks that gate directly, shaving two off every Angel you cast so a slow-topping curve starts deploying finishers early. The reduction stacks, so multiple copies collapse a heavy top-end into a sequence you can unload in one turn. The catch is fragility and specificity: the static reduction sits idle until an Angel actually reaches your hand, it touches no other spell, and the body dies to any removal a suspicious opponent is already holding against a tribal deck. Worth here is entirely borrowed from the shell built around it, the classic enabler bargain, where the card is inert on its own and decisive alongside its tribe. Type-locked cost reducers go back to the earliest tribal blocks; the wrinkle here is which tribe gets the service, since Angels rarely receive a dedicated ramp piece cheap enough to precede them on the curve rather than merely accompany them.
