Stabilizer

Artifact2 generic mana

Cycling was the keyword that defined the Onslaught block's draft and constructed environments, a way to pay a small cost to dig past dead cards, and Stabilizer exists for one reason: to switch it off entirely, for everyone, for two generic mana. This is hate-bear logic applied to a mechanic rather than a tribe, the kind of narrow artifact answer Wizards prints when a single keyword has enough graveyard, card-flow, and tutor implications to warrant a sideboard kill switch. The design is deliberately symmetrical and absolute: it does not tax cycling or cap it, it removes the action from the rules for both players, which makes it a clean piece against decks built around the keyword and dead weight in any matchup that never wanted to cycle anyway. That razor-thin window is the whole bargain. A card that reads as blank against most of the field is exactly the trade Wizards is willing to make for a board-state-independent, colorless answer that any deck can run regardless of its mana. Stabilizer belongs to a small lineage of single-mechanic prison pieces, artifacts whose entire job is to nullify one named ability, and like the rest of that family its relevance rises and falls precisely with how good the thing it hates happens to be.
