Squelching Leeches

Creature — Leech2 generic manaBlack manaBlack mana

The lineage of mono-black payoffs that scale to your Swamp count runs back to Corrupt and Tendrils of Corruption, but those spend the count once; this folds it into a recurring threat that resizes every time a Swamp enters the battlefield. The constraint is exactly as written: power and toughness track Swamps specifically, the land type, not black mana sources or lands in general. That counts any land carrying the Swamp type, so a typed dual still feeds it, but every off-type source and every fixing land you run shrinks the body. The restriction defines the card's whole strategic posture. In a deck built on heavy Swamp density it is a four-mana creature that climbs past most removal as the game develops; the moment you trim Swamps for color-fixing and untyped lands, the floor collapses and you are left with a fragile body whose size you bargained away at deckbuilding. It rewards the purist commitment mono-black has always asked of its pilots, and punishes the hedge. The body itself does nothing clever beyond getting large: no evasion, no protection, no recursion. Its entire identity is the wager that you built around your basics, and the payoff curve is steep enough that the wager is the interesting part.
