Party's whole conceit was scaling a fixed effect against a variable board, and few payoffs advertise the trade this loudly: a six-mana refill whose sticker price prices in a class spread that most decks never assemble. A full party drags it down to a two-mana instant, and even a partial one drops it into competitive range with the fair blue draw spells it otherwise looks bloated against. That is the friction at the heart of it: the printed cost assumes a board state that punishes anyone jamming this as generic top-end and rewards only the decks already fielding the four class types the mechanic tracks. The three life is quiet insurance, the margin that lets an aggressive board rebuild its hand without conceding the tempo it spent to build that board in the first place. The genuinely clever part is that the reduction ties your draw engine to your creature roster, so the spell gets cheapest exactly when you least want to hold up mana and most want to keep the pressure on: it improves as your need to interact drops. It asks nothing of the graveyard and nothing of the stack, only that you filled out the class chart the mechanic wanted, and pays you in cards for having done so.
