Protection from creatures is the cleanest evasion white has ever bottled into an Aura, and the unblockability is what wins the game: nothing on the board can stand in front of the enchanted creature, so the buffs you stack on it convert straight into damage every turn. The protection clause also strips out combat entirely, since the creature shrugs off any creature's damage and any creature that would target it fizzles against it. That is the body of the trade. The +1/+1 is almost incidental, a rounding error next to what protection from creatures does to the way the board interacts. But the wording draws its own vulnerability in plain sight: protection covers creatures and nothing else, so a single instant-speed kill spell or a board wipe answers the whole investment, Aura and threat together, in one card. That is the two-for-one bait the voltron archetype is built on, piling its eggs into one ward and daring the opponent to find the right spell. As color-pie work it is white doing evasion in white's idiom: not the raw, unconditional unblockability of blue, but a conditional, combat-flavored protection that reads as a knight's ward rather than a phasing trick. The card defends the creature from what creatures can do to it through damage, blocking, and targeting, and leaves it naked to everything else, which is exactly the line white has always drawn around its protection effects.
