Spinal Graft

A pump aura with a self-destruct clause wired to the wrong switch: the +3/+3 is real, but the moment anyone points a spell or ability at the enchanted creature, that creature dies and can't be regenerated. The trigger fires on any targeting, including your own, which is the design's sharp edge. Try to save the creature with a combat trick or a protection spell and you target it; the Graft kills it before your spell resolves, so the buffed body is one you dare not touch. Worse for the controller, the clause does the opponent's work for them: any targeted effect, a one-damage ping or a tap, becomes lethal, and a creature wearing this aura is strictly easier to remove than one without it. The +3/+3 buys a bigger body in exchange for handing every targeted interaction a kill button. The only effects that leave the buffed body standing are the ones that ignore it entirely: a non-targeting "all creatures get +X/+X" pump slips past the trigger, and the creature keeps swinging as the enlarged threat. Sweepers and sacrifice outlets dodge the destroy clause too, but they take the creature anyway, so the aura's safety there is academic. The body of the design is the tension between a tempting stat line and a creature that has volunteered its own weakness: a high-risk aura from an era comfortable handing players sharp edges and trusting them to know which end to hold.
