Discard-matters aggro has always wrestled with the same tension: the payoff for filling your graveyard is that you no longer have the card in hand to cast. Mayhem answers that by letting the discarded card cast itself, and a 4/3 body is the right shape to make the arithmetic sting. The graveyard-cast cost of undercuts the
face cost by two, so rummaging effects, madness enablers, and looting all stop being pure card disadvantage: the discard is a discount, not a loss. The turn-locked window is what keeps the mechanic honest. You have to have thrown this away this turn, so it rewards decks built to churn cards rather than decks that stumble one into the yard and hope to buy it back three turns later. Timing rules still applying means the graveyard cast obeys the same sorcery-speed constraint the creature already has, so there is no instant-speed ambush hiding in the text; the value is entirely in sequencing your discard and your recast into the same turn. It is a build-around in the plainest sense: unremarkable if you hard-cast it, but a two-for-one engine the moment your deck is designed to feed it to the graveyard on purpose.
