A reanimation spell built as a Thrull payoff, which tells you everything about where it came from. The additional cost (exile a creature you control) is the friction that prices the effect: this is reanimation that demands board presence up front, trading a creature you have for a better one in the yard. The Thrull clause is the design hook that anchors it to its setting. Fallen Empires made Thrulls the disposable labor of the Order of the Ebon Hand, bred to be sacrificed, and the set's black cards repeatedly reward feeding them into engines. Here the reward is a +2/+2 counter, a permanent stat bump that turns a low-value chump exile into a meaningfully larger reanimation target. The structure is clean: you are paying creature-for-creature regardless, so the Thrull bonus is a kicker for committing to the tribe rather than a generic creature, sharpening the incentive to run the cheap fodder the rest of the set hands you. As a piece of reanimation, the rate is fair by intent: two black mana plus a body, returning to the battlefield directly rather than the slower hand-recursion most early black graveyard spells offered. It is a small, self-contained statement about how a tribe and a mechanic can be welded together at common-to-uncommon power, a flavor-first reanimator that only fully unlocks if you have bought into the Thrulls the way the set wants you to.
