White's anti-flying tradition has produced some of the most single-minded creatures ever stapled to a 1/1 frame, and this is among the narrowest of them: a repeatable fog that fires only at attacking creatures with flying, and only against their combat damage. The activation is trivial, but the targeting is ruthlessly specific. Pay the mana and one airborne attacker gets neutered on the turn it swings; do it again next turn and the same lock holds, provided the fragile Cleric is still standing. The seam runs through the design itself: prevention covers combat damage and nothing more, so a flier's other abilities pass through untouched, and a creature on the ground simply walks past it. What you get, then, is a body that asks for mana every turn to answer exactly one category of attacker, and a partial answer at that. It is a relic of an era when white's bench of dedicated dragon-and-angel hate ran deep, and when designers were comfortable hanging a recurring, hyper-conditional ability off the cheapest possible creature. A white-clad doorman built to slam the gate on a single set of wings, indifferent to everything else marching toward your life total.
