Tapping a single creature on the way down is the gentlest interaction the game offers: no kill, no bounce, no lasting lock, just one untapped beat taken away until its owner's next untap step. The 2/1 body delivers that beat as a sorcery-speed, one-shot trigger with no flash, so it cannot ambush an attacker; the tap lands on your main phase, where it does its best work clearing a blocker before you swing or freezing an untap-gated ability for a turn. What makes the design portable is the W/U symbol: a deck that never sees an Island and a deck built on Wizards can both run the exact same 2/1 without paying the manabase tax a gold card demands, the structural move that defined hybrid as a color-identity technology in this era. The effect is the same either way; only the caster changes. None of this is a swing you can build a plan around, and that is deliberate. This is not a build-around the way Vanish into Memory asks you to commit; it is a creature you were going to play anyway that throws a small tempo punch as it enters, priced exactly to that ceiling.
