Forestwalk is the oldest evasion keyword in the game's color pie, and it has always been a bet on the metagame rather than a property of the card: a green creature that becomes unblockable only when the opponent happens to be playing green back. That conditionality is the whole transaction here. Against a deck with no Forests, this is a vanilla 2/2 for two with nothing to recommend it; against another green deck, it walks in unimpeded and stays that way until the matchup ends. Landwalk abilities live or die on that coin flip, which is why they tend to read as either dead text or quiet beatdown depending on what sat down across the table. The design lineage runs back to the earliest sets, where each color got a flavor-appropriate landwalk to punish mirror-adjacent matchups, and Forestwalk has stayed the green entry in that cycle ever since. A 2/2 body keeps the stakes low: this is a creature built to be a marginal upgrade in a green-heavy room, not a threat that warps anything. The honest read is that it is a hedge stapled to a bear, valuable precisely in proportion to how much green is being played and worthless when none is.
