Soldier On

Instant2 generic manaWhite mana

Two +1/+1 counters at three mana is a fair-to-modest combat trick on its own; plenty of pump spells buy more permanent growth for less. The untap clause is what pulls this out of the standard trick lane. Cast it on your own attacker after damage and that creature stays back on defense the same turn, folding a pump spell and a pseudo-vigilance grant into one instant. Aim it instead at a creature you've already tapped for its own ability, and you get a second activation on the same rotation. The counters matter because they make the growth stick past end of turn, the divergence from the flash-in-the-pan trick that fades; the untap converts a durable buff into a tempo swing. That pairing rewards two kinds of board: permanents with tap abilities worth firing twice, and creatures you'd like attacking and blocking in the same turn. In flavor terms it reads as a heroic rescue (take the hit, get back up bigger and ready to fight again), and it sits in the narrow band between a growth spell and a keyword grant, borrowing a little from each without committing fully to either.
