Snapsail Glider

Artifact Creature — Construct3 generic mana

A vanilla 2/2 for three is a creature nobody plays; a flyer for the same cost with a threshold condition earns a slot. The gap between those two is the whole pitch, and metalcraft is the lever that closes it. The threshold sits at three artifacts, which is exactly the count a dedicated artifact deck clears without effort: the body itself contributes one, so two more permanents flip the evasion on. That makes the flying conditional in name only inside the archetype it was built for, while keeping the downside real outside it (a deck light on artifacts gets a grounded 2/2, which is the honest price for the upside). The design's smartest move is that metalcraft checks the count continuously rather than locking the bonus in on a triggered window: there is no enters-the-battlefield check and no end-step recount. The flying is present whenever the count holds and gone the instant it drops below three, so a removed or sacrificed artifact can clip the wings mid-combat. That ongoing static check gives an opponent a real line: break the count while it is blocking or swinging rather than spending removal on the creature itself. As a beater it is plain, but plainness is the point. It is a curve-filler whose ceiling depends entirely on how deep a deck has committed to artifacts.
