Sluggishness

Enchantment — Aura1 generic manaRed mana

The boomerang clause is what separates this from a forgotten draft-chaff Aura. Removing a single creature from blocking duty is a marginal effect on its own: cheap, narrow, the kind of thing aggressive red decks rarely want to spend a card on. But "return it to its owner's hand" rewrites the math entirely, because the Aura never dies a permanent death. Kill the enchanted creature, blink it, bounce it, and the Aura comes back to be redeployed: a recurring tax on whatever wall or blocker the opponent fields next. That recursion turns a one-shot trick into a repeatable utility piece, and it nudges the card toward decks built to exploit it deliberately rather than the red beatdown shells that the surface effect seems aimed at. The design tension is straightforward: the effect is intentionally weak so that the free return doesn't snowball into something oppressive. You are paying two mana, every time, for the privilege of un-blocking one attack, and the only thing you save is the card itself. The structural idea, pairing a low-impact combat ability with a no-loss disposability clause, is the same one that later removal-resistant Auras would refine into something more dangerous. Whether the trade is worth a slot has always depended on what else the deck is doing with the recursion, not on the blocking restriction itself.
