White's relationship with hard removal has always run through a filter of conditions, and the power-3-or-greater clause is one of the cleanest ever printed: it cannot touch a mana dork, a one-drop hatebear, or a token swarm, but it answers exactly the threats white most wants gone (the fatties, the finishers, the buffed-up problem the deck cannot block through). The restriction is the trade. Instead of paying a premium for unconditional white removal, you accept that this only works on the top half of the curve, and in return you get an instant that kills a dragon as readily as a wrath-proof haymaker. The scry keeps the slot from sitting purely reactive: not card advantage, but a small smoothing that says this was built as a clean interaction spell rather than a tempo blowout. It reads as a sniper's tool, and the design backs the flavor: a shot that only lands on something big enough to hit. White has spent its history finding sideways routes to destroy effects (damage, exile-on-attack, edicts, fight-style downsizing) because straight kill spells sit uneasily in the color's pie. A power threshold is one of the most elegant of those routes, because it draws the line at combat math rather than at card type, and lets the spell stay narrow without ever feeling situational against the creatures that actually matter.
