Morph turned the guessing game into a removal threat with this one, wrapping a Shock around a body. The unrevealed creature could be anything, but the payoff on flipping is concrete: two damage to any target, which means an attacker contemplating a trade or a planeswalker sitting at two loyalty has to read the open mana behind a small red goblin. The pressure is informational as much as mechanical, and bluffing the flip can be worth as much as the flip itself. The honest part of the design is the cost stack. Three to deploy the disguise, then again to turn it up, so the full two damage arrives at a real premium and never threatened to outrace a dedicated burn spell on rate. That ceiling is also why an opponent cannot panic over every anonymous attacker: threatening this requires holding three full mana, so the read is rarely as cheap as a single untapped Mountain implies. What it offered was a goblin that also answered a creature, folding a piece of interaction into a curve that otherwise just wanted to keep swinging. And the flip is not a clean kill on demand: turning the card face up is a special action that does not use the stack, but the two damage is a triggered ability that does, which leaves a window for an opponent to respond, sacrifice the target, or fizzle the burn before it ever resolves.
